Bio / CV

Legodile “Leky” Kemong is a Botswana-born filmmaker, cinematographer, and editor whose work bridges storytelling, conservation, and cultural heritage. Raised amid Botswana’s vast landscapes and frequent human-elephant encounters, Kemong developed a deep commitment to capturing the complexities of coexistence between people and wildlife. This passion is vividly expressed in my acclaimed documentary Gentle Giants, which explores human-elephant conflict in Botswana through a reflective and community-centered lens.

My creative journey has been shaped by participation in prestigious programs such as the Nkashi Storytelling Lab, hosted by the National Geographic Society, Red Cinema Cameras, and the Wild Bird Trust. I am also an alumni of the Wildlife School with Botswana Ignite, and was recently selected for the Expedition Filmmaking Workshop in Namibia, an intensive program focusing on storytelling in extreme environments.

As a producer at Now TV Channel and founder of Tlhase Film Works, I actively contribute to Botswana’s growing film industry, advocating for collaboration among local filmmakers and supporting initiatives that amplify Indigenous voices and narratives.

My work reflects my belief in the power of film to inspire environmental stewardship and cultural pride, using modern technologies to create immersive, impactful storytelling experiences.
